This past week marked the UK’s first ‘Green Great Britain Week’ organised by the government.
The UK government has put a commitment to maximising the opportunities of the global shift to clean growth at the heart of their Modern Industrial Strategy. As they put it, their ambition as part of the Modern Industrial Strategy is for the UK to be at the forefront of providing these low carbon technologies and innovative systems and services.
As part of this they are supporting businesses by investing in research and innovation projects and we are grateful to have received four government grants so far to support our blockchain-based projects including our energy trading community in London, as well as to be working so closely with UK regulator Ofgem as part of their sandbox.
Green Great Britain Week also provided a space for UK businesses tackling climate change to showcase their technologies and we were pleased to have been invited to exhibit at the Clean Growth Innovation Summit, themed around technologies of the future.
There were a number of high profile talks, a highlight being one from Sir David King that really resonated with us — we couldn’t agree more with his statement and hope that our peer-to-peer energy trading platform and token can really have an impact on the issues we are tackling.
“Climate change is the most serious challenge that we have had to face up to and we will all have to face it together” — Sir David King, Clean Growth Innovation Summit 2018.
